Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia on 1st of December 2008, become member of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC)

Accreditation allows  people to make an informed decision when selecting a laboratory. It allows to laboratory to demonstrate it`s competence, impartiality and capability.
International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) is international cooperation  of laboratory and inspection accreditation bodies. It is formed more than 30 years ago to help remove technical barriers to trade. In this moment more then 70 accreditation bodies represent their economies and regions in ILAC.
The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) first started as a conference  in 1977 with the aim of developing international cooperation for facilitating trade. It promoted the idea of the acceptance of the accredited test and calibration results.
In 1996 ILAC become a formal cooperation with charter to establish a network of mutual recognition agreements among accreditation bodies. These agreements are with aim of the acceptance of the accredited test and calibration laboratories.
Now the ILAC arrangement is in place and governments can take advantage of it to further develop or enhance trade agreements.
The ultimate aim of the ILAC Arrangements is the increased use and acceptance by industry as well  as regulators of the results from accredited laboratories and inspection bodies in other countries. In this way, the free- trade goal of "product tested once and accepted everywhere", can be realized.

Membership in ILAC is obligation for IARM to fulfill continually the requirements of international standards for accreditation and to organize it`s activities in a way to be in function of elimination of technical barriers to trade.
