Status of a full membership in the European Accreditation

A is a non-profit oЛого на EArganization operating on the basis of membership of nationally accepted accreditation bodies within the geographic territory of Europe. EA acting as a competition- free network has the following aims:

 
·         To contribute towards elimination of the technical barriers of trade exchange by attaining a uniformed approach to accreditation and conformity assessment services,
·         To provide technic al assistance to the European Commission and EFTA in the implementation of the directives and the development of the mutually recognized contracts.
·         To promote the international accreditation recognition and accreditation services by maintaining stable and solid multilateral agreements.
 
The involved parties or stakeholders in the work of the EA are as follows:
  • Conformity assessment bodies (laboratories, certification and inspection bodies);
  • European Co mmission;
  • EFTA;
  • Regulators;
  • Industry
  • Consumers
 
Their interests are represented via the membership in the EA Advisory Board and the EA Committees.
 
Unlike the ISO 9001 certification, the accreditation applies set of criteria and procedures especially developed in order to determine the technical competence. ISO 9001 certificate demonstrates conformity with the requirements of the standards, whereas the accreditation demonstrates specific technical competence.
