Information on the implementation of the new version of the standard EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – “General competence requirements for testing laboratories and calibration laboratories”

On November 30th, 2017, ISO published the third edition of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard - "General competence requirements for testing laboratories and calibration laboratories", as a result of a three-year work of the ISO CASCO Working Group 44.
The 2016 Resolution (ILAC Resolution GA 20.15) stipulates that the transitional period for application of the new standard version is three years from the date of publication. During the defined transitional period, the two versions of the standard shall be valid (ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005). The transitional period ends on November 30th, 2020.
In accordance with the “ Procedure for Modification of the requirements for accreditation” - PR 04-01, IARM prepared an action plan for implementation of the changes to the accreditation requirements as per the new standard.
According to the Plan, IARM will start assessing according to the new standard EN ISO 17025:2017, upon client requests, as of November 1st, 2018, whereas starting on June 1st, 2019, all assessments will be carried out in accordance with the new standard.
