Completed TAIEX workshop entitled: „The Role of Accreditation in the Implementation of the Regulation (EC) 765/2008 and Communication with National Regulators”

On the 21st June 2010, a workshop entitled: “The Role of Accreditation in the Implementation of the Regulation (EC) 765/2008 and Communication with National Regulators” fully supported by the European Commission TAIEX Instrument for Technical Assistance was organized in hotel “Arka”.  
The workshop was officially opened by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Ms. Katerina Kosteska. Ms. Kosteska in the introductory speech emphasized the importance of accreditation in obtaining  quality product and services as well as stressed all achievements of the Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia as well as its cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.
In addition to the IARM employees, participants of the workshop were also representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the Institute for Standardization of the Republic of Macedonia, Bureau of Metrology, the Economic Chamber of the Republic of Macedonia, business and conformity assessment bodies.
 
The roles of presenters during the workshop were taken up by Trpe Ristoski, PhD, Director of the IARM and Mr. Malcolm Hynd, External Affairs Manager in the UK Accreditation Service who has an extensive experience of more than 25 years in the UK Department for Trade and Industry. Trpe Ristoski PhD presented the accreditation in Republic of Macedonia, the benefits thereof as well as the significance of the Multilateral Agreement on an European level. Majority of allocated time was planned for Mr. M. Hynd’s presentations on aims and purpose of the Regulation (EC) 765/2008 as well as on the role of accreditation in eliminating technical barriers in trade and its relation to market surveillance and CE marking. The greatest focus was placed on determining the most efficient method of communication with the national regulators and recognition of accreditation as a powerful tool for securing confidence in the wide spectrum of areas in which accreditation is enforced, supported by practical examples and experiences disseminated by the UK Accreditation Service.

            During the sessions, a debate took place in which larger part of the attendees through active participation overcame all occurring issues and dilemmas in discussion with the presenters.
